Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of playbook.games and its related card-scanning features, creation tools, games, and online services (the “Service”). “Playbook,” “we,” and “us” mean the Playbook Games team operating the Service.

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

1. Participants, parents, and account access

Playbook is for players and families, including children. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review these Terms with you and authorize your participation. A parent or guardian who authorizes a child’s participation agrees to these Terms for themselves and, to the extent permitted by law, on the child’s behalf, and is responsible for supervising that participation.

Restricted creation and play features are available to participants approved by the Playbook team. Children’s participation is arranged directly with their parent or guardian. Signing in does not guarantee access. Contact us to arrange access or ask about a child’s participation.

Where the law requires direct parental notice or verifiable parental consent before collecting a child’s personal information, those requirements must be met separately. Accepting these Terms, signing in with Google, or granting camera permission does not itself provide that consent.

2. Your use of the Service

Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the Service for personal, non-commercial play and creation. You are responsible for your account activity, using accounts and cards you are authorized to use, and keeping account credentials and private card codes secure. Tell us if you believe someone has used your access without permission.

You agree not to:

• Break the law, infringe another person’s rights, or submit content you do not have permission to use.
• Harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, or endanger another person, or share someone’s private information.
• Submit unlawful, sexually explicit, hateful, or otherwise harmful content.
• Bypass access restrictions, collect other players’ information, misuse card codes, cheat in online play, or interfere with the Service.
• Introduce malware, probe systems without authorization, or use automated tools to overload or extract restricted content from the Service.

3. Your creations and feedback

You retain any ownership rights you have in original content you create or submit. You give Playbook a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, and display that content as needed to operate and provide the Service. If you choose to share a creation or submit it for a featured gallery, this includes displaying it to that audience and enabling any sharing or remix features you choose to use.

You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content. Do not include personal or sensitive information in creations intended for sharing. Other players may be able to view or copy shared creations. Contact us to request removal; copies already downloaded or independently remixed by others may remain outside our control, subject to applicable privacy rights.

If you send suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use them to improve the Service without payment or an obligation to implement them.

4. Playbook materials and other services

The Service, Playbook branding, software, artwork, card designs, and other materials we provide belong to Playbook or its licensors. Except for the permission to use the Service and any rights expressly provided with particular materials, these Terms do not transfer ownership or grant permission to reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit those materials.

The Service uses third-party services, including Google sign-in and Firebase, and may link to other websites. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We do not control third-party websites, their content, or their availability.

5. Changes, availability, and suspension

Playbook is evolving. Features may be experimental, change, become unavailable, or be discontinued. We may remove content or limit, suspend, or end access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, security issues, legal requirements, or operation of the Service. We will give notice when reasonably practicable or required by law. Keep a separate copy of creations that matter to you; uninterrupted access and recovery of saved content are not guaranteed.

6. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, secure, accurate, or free of errors, or that content will never be lost.

7. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Playbook and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations apply only where lawful. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer protections, children’s privacy rights, or other rights you have under applicable law.

8. Updates to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We will post the revised Terms here with an updated date and provide additional notice of material changes when required by law. Changes apply from their stated effective date. Your continued use after that date means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law. Changes requiring a separate agreement or parental consent will not take effect for you on the basis of continued use alone.
